Investing for the future
We understand that when money is invested responsibly, it can make a significant difference to the world.
We make sure Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues are embedded in our lending and investment practices, and written in our Treasury Credit Risk and Lending Risk Policy.
Social responsibility exclusions
We apply strict social responsibility criteria when it comes to investing and lending our members’ money. This provides our members with the peace of mind that their investment or loan is not being used to fund harmful industries.
We do not lend to or invest in sectors that harm our society or our world, including alcohol, armaments, correctional facilities, cryptocurrency, deforestation or gross environmental degradation, fossil fuels, gambling, military activities, political activities, pornography, slavery, tobacco, or uranium.
We don’t invest in or lend to the fossil fuel industry
The Bank does not use members’ deposits to directly lend to, buy equity or debt in, any large-scale greenhouse polluting activities from fossil fuel exploration, extraction, production and use.
Proving our credentials
We are assessed by a number of independent third parties to authenticate that our responsible investment credentials can be trusted, and that we are a leader in responsible investment practices.
