Responsible investment

The Bank strives to provide quality services to members via ethical and prudent lending practices that are financially, socially and environmentally sustainable.

    • Social responsibility exclusions. We apply strict social responsibility criteria when it comes to investing and lending our members’ money. 
    • We don’t directly invest in or lend money to industries that pollute the planet, and the money borrowed from us is not sourced from polluting industries.

    Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) Certification 

    • All our mortgages, deposits and wholesale products sold are independently certified as a Responsible Investment by RIAA under strict rules, and at no extra cost to the consumer. 
    • We are the only bank in Australia named as a Responsible Investment Leader by RIAA in 2021, 2022 and 2023.  
    • RIAA’s Certification Symbol is recognised by investors and consumers across the region, providing confidence that a product or provider is delivering on its responsible investment promise and meeting the Australian and New Zealand Standard for responsible investing.
    • In the 12 months to 30 June 2023, Teachers Mutual Bank Limited’s total RIAA Certified product portfolio increased by 14% ($1.5bn) from $10.8bn to $12.3bn.
